The Ucluelet Mini Aquarium:
a pilot project
We’re building a permanent aquarium!
Did you know that we’re building a permanent aquarium, just a few meters from the current location of the Ucluelet Mini-Aquarium? The permanent Ucluelet Aquarium will strive to be a role model for institutions of its kind.
The building will incorporate:
- Environmentally friendly construction, such as a green roof and recycled materials.
- Dynamic displays reflecting seasonal changes in the marine environment.
- Water flowing out of the displays into a system of outdoor tide pools, enriching the marine habitat of Ucluelet harbour.
- A small classroom or wet lab will serve as an activity center for school groups.
