Raise awareness about local marine biodiversity and promote respect for the ocean environment.

2007:

A year of fundraising and planning

The Society is currently applying for a long term lease on the waterfront in Ucluelet. A fundraising campaign is underway to allow for the construction of phase 1 of the Ucluelet Aquarium (see below).

To uphold its educational goals while making this transition, two projects are underway. First, a detailed education manual is being written, thanks in part to a grant received from the Clayoquot Biosphere Trust. This document will provide a lively introduction to local marine biodiversity and ecology. Second, the society will continue its collaboration with Parks Canada in constructing another marine life exhibit in the Wickaninnish Interpretive Centre.
