The Mini Aquarium returns
A second season offered the Society an opportunity to develop some of its educational goals. In addition to the daily operation of the Mini Aquarium, several educational programs were developed for younger members of the community. These half-day science camps introduced participants to basic concepts in marine science and ecology. Over the course of the season staff members wrote several informative articles for the local newspaper. A free public lecture on the role of aquariums in environmental education was offered at the Pacific Rim National Park auditorium. Attendance rose to 13,000 visitors in 2005. Overall the Society succeeded in communicating its message to the public and in gaining further community support.
